AN ARTS AND CRAFTS KITCHEN

History of the project (the Arts & Crafts kitchen)

Our clients had purchased their home twenty four years prior to contacting us for this kitchen remodel. We had perviously remodeled their master bathroom. The house, located in south San Jose is a 1300 square foot three bedroom two bath home. Originally our clients wanted a reface of their existing cabinets and new tile. Through the Design process they discovered their need for a bigger kitchen that opened up to the common rooms of the house. They also wanted a particular door style for their cabinets.

Solution:
While working with our clients we found they had specific needs for the storage, finishes, durability and flow.

More Light, more room and more family.
The existing floor left little to be desired, small, cramped and dark. A common wall between the the kitchen and living room was removed and the floor was extended into the living room to accommodate a buffet cabinet, shallow pantry and a wine captain. Phil wanted his wine captain. A peninsula was designed to extend out into the family room, where a cabinet height eating area could service their needs for gathering people into the kitchen. Hardwood floors where installed into the new kitchen, dining and family room, the existing floors in the hall and living rooms where refinished to unify the design.
